Duplium Corporation, a leading optical media supplier, announced today that they have launched a new Myspace page directed towards independent artists. Duplium is a North American CD & DVD duplicator, replicator, print packaging manufacturer, and fulfillment facility, with plants in Dallas, Texas and Toronto, Canada.

Japanese entertainment distributor Pony/Canon will release the first movie title on a hybrid Blu-ray/DVD disc in Japan in February, in an effort to accelerate the transition from the DVD to the new Blu-ray Disc format. The single-sided hybrid Blu-ray/DVD disc was originally developed by JVC more than two years ago. The disc integrates a blue laser top layer (25GB); underneath there are two more layers like an ordinary DVD-9.

Despite the gloomiest of financial forecasts, sales of Blu-ray disc movies are defying the odds and bucking the credit crunch - with record figures reported in the run up to Christmas. In fact, overall sales are predicted to more than triple in 2009, reaching 2.5million units Europe wide* (and that figure does not even include the millions of Playstation 3 consoles, with their in-built Blu-ray players, that will be sold over the next few months).
